Group: Raising minimum wage could cause drastic inflation – Center Square

Employment Policies Institute Research Director Rebekah Paxton said every one-dollar increase in the minimum wage can trigger up to 5.5 percent price inflation. “When you’re talking about a proposal like a $27 an hour minimum wage, those increases could be much more drastic and much more swift, depending on how it’s implemented,” she said.

Every time the minimum wage goes up in a region, jobs go down and businesses close. This is Bidenflation in action. This proposal comes from Illinois political animals who, like the Autopen-in-Chief’s handlers, feel themselves exempt from the laws of basic economics.

Illinois elects its dumbest. The Useless Chicago Media are their enablers.

There is also a big difference between making $27/hr in the six county area and $27/hour in southern IL. $27/hour in a Collinsville McDonalds vs $27/hour in a Wilmette McDonalds. The Wilmette store can raise prices to pay for $27/hour while the Collinsville location may fold.

Once again, the question is, will this minimum wage apply to all state and city government workers? There were exceptions last time. My first job at 16 was a lifeguard for the Park District for $2.15/hour. If lifeguards are going to make $27/hr, I may have to start working out in the pool. Imagine what will happen to the city budget if every city worker is making at least $27/hr.

WTF a minimum wage of $27.00 !!! What are these people smoking. No business can afford that and still survive . Union push so they get more money 💰 because of dues ??

These Bidenomics acolytes still haven’t figured out that a wage increase only results in fewer hours to the point where all workers are new hires without enough hours per week to qualify for any health insurance. I had hoped that the likes of Yellen had gone away once and for all.
