Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension. Audio here.
Steve the Pilot seems blind to the presence of the elephant in the room, as do many of those people who posted comments on his article. Who commits most of the crimes that in the city? Which political party has has been the dominant power in Chicago, Cook County, and Illinois for more than a century? Who put that party in the dominant position it has occupied for so long? Who does that party remain in power despite its track record of failed governance?
Not just one elephant in the room; a herd of elephants.
They are democrats therefore they are too stupid to see the obvious
Kass’s post has gone viral, has a link on the Citizen Free Press, probably going to get millions of reads.
JB and Lori’s logic amazes me. They believe that EVERYONE who disagrees with their policies is a racist carnival barker. Racist carnival barkers cannot have legitimate grievances because racist carnival barkers cannot have legitimate grievances, and that’s the end of the conversation.
I moved to Evanston to get away from Chicago, but the libtards running the place have declared it a “safe haven” for the homeless, who are taking over the downtown area. Here is one recent incident: https://evanstonroundtable.com/2023/02/14/city-statement-on-altercation-involving-streetplus-evanston-clean-team/ Streetplus Evanston Clean Team suspended after altercation The City of Evanston is aware of a physical altercation that took place in the area of Fountain Square on Monday afternoon, Feb. 13, involving staff of Streetplus, a City of Evanston maintenance vendor. The city has reviewed and made public security camera footage from this incident, which shows Streetplus staff arriving at Fountain Square and… Read more »
Steve, I had the same feelings about Detroit 45 years ago. I’m getting the same feelings about the country now. Everything Bidet touches turns to Schlit. It took Lori 2 years to kill Chicago. Imagine the US after 2 more years of Bidet.
I read the article and all the comments. It’s sad because many of those people have families, like my own, that have lived here for generations. I have great-great-great grandparents that arrived from the old country in the 1860s and you can draw a straight line from them to me here today. Old census and birth/death certificates show them living and dying in long torn down apartment buildings in places we call Streeterville, River North and Downtown. The saddest part of all is that we are mostly the last to leave. The demographics of the Chicago area reflect this too.… Read more »
An excellent article about the decline of Chicago and lots of interesting comments from former longtime residents who have fled the city. The biggest question in my mind is that most likely every one of the commentators is no doubt a loyal democrat and have voted in election after election for the politicians that have driven Chicago to the edge of despair. They no doubt voted for a senile incompetent biden and more than likely hate President Trump. They haven’t used the common sense God gave them or haven’t opened their eyes to the destruction of society that liberalism has… Read more »
You’re right, Steve does seem like he was an automatic Chicago Democrat. Now that he’s in FL, how will he vote?
When middle class longtime Chicagoans like Steve, who have given time and effort to improving the city start leaving, you know the city is in trouble. Same here, loved growing up in the city, went to 20 years of education there, opened a practice in my old neighborhood, but had to get out. Didn’t recognize it anymore, sold practice, moved to SC and just shake my head at all news out of Chicago and IL.
