No state has seen more gun sales this year than Illinois. Federal authorities there have completed nearly 4.3 million gun background checks since January, including more than 955,000 submitted last month. That's more background checks than the next five states combined.

Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension. This is inaccurate, totally inaccurate. NICS checks are NOT gun purchases. NICS checks are performed when a gun is being purchased but they are performed when a person applies for a concealed carry license, they are performed for multiple reasons not solely for gun purchases. KY had a drop in NICS checks and the media reported it as a drop in gun sales yet it was the exact opposite gun sales rose. The drop in checks was due to KY enacting Constitutional Carry and as a result less checks were needed. Do NOT conflate the two

955,000 background checks submitted in one month?
Well, more people are applying for background checks than leaving the state in that month.
I wonder how many will have moved before their background check is approved.
The 2020 Census of Illinois’ population is 12,822,739.
So, 7.4% (955,000 / 12,822,739) of the Illinois population submitted a background check in April 2021?
That’s crazy.
Especially considering that children under a certain age are not submitting background checks.
Thus that 7.4% is even higher when considering those who realistically can apply for a background check.
For example, infants are not applying for background checks.
They’ll have to settle for an NRA t-shirt.
The St. Floyd riots was the impetus for many people on the sidelines to get armed. If you’re going to live in this increasingly violent state, you need to be armed.
It is so nice to see our City of Chicago Mayor, Community Activists, Community Organizers, Federal and State Politicians finally convincing the Gang Bangers to apply for a FOID card. Glad to hear only “Legal Gun Owners” are keeping the streets safe!
Virtually everyone I know in IL with a political persuasion either center or right of center became heavily armed last year. People who’ve never owned a gun in their lives are now stocking up on ammo and guns of all kinds. This is good. It’s a deterrence to criminal who know that many suburbs are heavily armed. We aren’t gangbangers with saturday night specials firing indiscriminately into crowds to attack our rivals. We are heavily armed and willing to do whatever it takes to defend our lives and property.
