Gun violence in Chicago’s South Side driven by poverty, pastor says – FOX News

"Violence is a fruit of something, not a root of something," New Beginnings Church Pastor TJ Grooms said. "The root is that there is no economic vitality." Over 17% of Chicagoans live in poverty, compared to a national average of 11%, according to the most recent Census data.

Looks like Lori will need to send out more free money to solve this problem.

Too broad a brush – a small percentage of the black community is engaged in crime, not the whole of the black community.

95%??? Your racism is strong. Another example of the many racists who comment here. I’m sure the other 99% that don’t comment don’t think like these knuckle draggers.

More class acts Mark.

Get off it, PPF. Comments like that have been rare.

What are you talking about Mark? The original comment from George was racist followed by two more. You call that rare? Whenever I point them out to make a point you go ahead and delete it but your moral compass doesn’t seem to do it on its own.

Sad that you’re more upset by me pointing it out rather than the actual racists comments. Very telling about your character.

Bullshit. We delete racist comments whenever somebody points us to them unless we’ve seen them first, which we can’t always do with comments running 24/7. Then we put those commenters into either banned or held for moderation in the spam box. Despite 50K articles posted here with comments, only about ten people have had that happen, which is remarkable for any site with comments. And if you’re now telling me I’m racist because of anything I’ve handled here, or that 99% of our readers are, buzz off. One other category of people we censor are liars and slanderers, and you… Read more »

So you have no problem with George’s comment or Kingfish’s comment? How is it rare if there are still two more comments on this page that you didn’t delete? Just because you only banned 10 people doesn’t make it rare considering you don’t notice the comments above. When did I call you a racists? I’m pointing out that you have other racists comments that you allow on this page. You say it’s rare and when I point it out you get upset and start swearing. It’s not libelous when it’s true. Now you threaten to ban me because I point… Read more »

Also, the reference to the 99% was regarding to your comment you made to me earlier in the day. When I pointed out the voting of the fat comments of JB and how it reflected your readers you attempted to deflect by saying only 1% of your visitors leave comments so the voting doesn’t represent most of your readers. I pointed out that those 1% represent a sampling of your overall readers. I don’t think 99% of the commenters are racists so I wouldn’t think 99% of your readers are either.

Committing a crime, especially a violent crime, is not a result of one’s economic state. It is a choice and reflects a lack of standards and values.

Blame 60 years of Democrat policies that have have destroyed black families, enabled crime in Black communities, and relegated Black children to failing public schools.

When he was two, his father was in prison, his mother unable to care for him. He lived with his aunt in a room with 12 other siblings and cousins. Mark Glennon on AM560’s Morning Answer: Chicago pension buyout plan mostly shifts debt rather than eliminating it, property tax surge doubles inflation over three decades

Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension.
