Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension. Say Vandelay! Say Vandelay!
At least this reporter actually spoke to a couple of the protesters. One said “He’s got absolutely no empathy or compassion for people,” I wonder how he knows this.
I encourage those protesting car dealerships to reevaluate their life choices, and question whether their actions really are for the greater good. There are so many other ways to make a difference – like volunteering at a food pantry, or donating to a cancer charity, or spending time with abandoned pets, or even spending time with those less fortunate and helping them out. Standing in front of an electric car dealership to protest Elon Musk’s role as a government advisor is really about the dumbest form of protest there is, even dumber than the pro-Hamas protests on college campuses last… Read more »
But, it pays well!
Not as well as it did when USAID was footing the bill…
The really stupid thing is, that when someone asks them why they are there…they really have no answer. Their reasons follow a left narrative, none of which is true or real. These people haven’t even done enough research to know whether what they are doing is real. Sheep, brainwashed with repetitive messaging, with a lot of TDS and way, way too much time on their hands.
More AstroTurf protesters, paid and bussed here by Soros. Deport them all to Gaza.
When they see what the IDF has done over there they too will back Hamas! Not a very good idea.
On Oct 7, 2023, Israel saw the worst mass murder of Jews since the Holocaust.
What did you think Israel would do to Hamas? Say mean things on Twitter?
All of the destruction in Gaza — regrettable as it might be — is on Hamas — for setting up their arms caches and rocket launchers in residential areas and using Gazan civilians as human shields.
While they are protesting Tesla cars I will protest my list.
#1 Trabant
#2 Yugo
#3 Ford Pinto
#4 AMC Pacer
#5 Fiat Multipla
Hey, I loved my Pinto, my first car.
I didn’t love my first car, a used Pinto. That may have something to do with the fact that it was the most repulsive shade of green you’ve ever seen.
And they blew up when hit from behind. I had a “Flammable” sticker on back bumper.
I also hated my first car a Mercury Lynx ( another name for Ford Escort). No radio, no air, but needed a car to get to first job, it was cheap.
I forget on purpose I had a Vega.
That Chevrolet Vega was a bad little car when you hopped it up.
You forgot the Omni – I carried replacement belts and tools for roadside repairs. The backseat full of kids in carseats stopped by the side of the road and Mom under the hood changing a belt. Almost comical.
I subtley one-finger saluted that Dodge dealership every time I passed it.
After about six months it became a trade-in on a lovely new work truck.
Years ago when I had some old beaters like the Vega mechanics told it would be cheaper for me to buy a tow truck and tow the junk I bought behind me. Example Cadillac V8-6-4 or Cutlass Ciera Diesel
Why leave out the Mustang II?
