Its funny, the City Government wants to make sure and are concerned that perhaps the roving mob of hundreds of youths on the 4th with fireworks and destroying property don’t scare away shoppers and tourists…what are they smoking? People with money are not going downtown till they get this crap under control. They need to reinstate cash bail, prosecute and jail offenders, give the police back their control, stand behind the Police and don’t abandon them, refund the Police budgets and get tough and quite frankly, mean. There has to be some fear of consequences and some fear of the… Read more »

From all of us in what was the convention and tourism industry, (you know – the big economic engine that used to power this city), thanks a lot for destroying our livelihood, Larry.

Time to bring back cash bail.

I think Lightfoot’s super super mad that Biden Administration didn’t find her a sweet Fed position already, which would’ve allowed her to gracefully exit Chicago. She literally vibrates with anger at her press conferences and city council meetings. Her demeanor is unacceptable at this point, and she’s too radioactive to be part of Biden’s network. She’s now as toxic as Rahm once was, so sorry honey, no Fed position for YOU. Biden administration has enough trouble dealing with Harris, the crazed chuckler, and likely not willing to entertain another affirmative action lady loose cannon.

I always gave Lori the benefit of the doubt that maybe she was smart, and maybe she scores OK on tests, and likely writes articulately; but clearly, her career trajectory is not the result of competence or intelligence. It appears she has bullied organizations into hiring her under the veiled threat of calling them racists or sexist.

Anybody who was in Chicago for the riots in 1968, or Detroit in 1967, you know that burned-out cities do not spring back overnight like blades of grass; vacant lots can stay empty for several generations. The irresponsibility of our leadership is absolutely criminal.

Madison ave by the United Center is a perfect example.

Lori has no intention of stopping this madness. Does she really think the loop and mag mile will come back? Does she care? I doubt it. It’s trumps fault, guns, lack of investment and programs. When will she be called on this craziness by the media? These wildings are costing us millions in revenue. All allowed so Lori can be re-elected. The charges will all be dropped anyway by kimesha.

Why don’t we see the mayor in the midsts of these children and young adults. Why doesn’t she tell them to go home? I think some of these kids have figured how to dismantle a mortar tube and extract and fuse the rounds singularly. Light’m just like firecracker and KaBoom. Someone is going be killed or seriously Maimed. Then we’ll all have good cry, require Krazy Kaplan’s include a warning pamphlet. That’s it!! We’ll have explosives safety classes for the little devils. Lori will talk to the big guy for supplemental funding. We’ll pay you not to play with explosives.

And Illinois legislators want to legalize fireworks.

They should be legalized, just like many other states, enforcement is impossible when every second house on your block has a stash, the police will laugh if you call. Its not the guns its the person irresponsible, its not the fire cracker its the person who blows off their own finger.

Our brilliant legislators will just tax fireworks around 40%, just like weed. Taxes will be accessed on some convoluted formula to maximize revenue and citizens delight. JB will see dollar signs and sign anything.I want one of those German auto cannons they’d push around on a little cart.

The wildings could be stopped overnight by a serious administration. Only political fools would allow the destruction of a society by a small gang of kids.

Lori doesn’t have the political will to do it because of the color the miscreants’ skin.

These ” miscreants ” fall into the “victim” class, so of course they are not held accountable…

And in order to be clear about this the wilding youths were of what ethnic extraction? I will give you 3 guesses and the first 2 dont count. Anyone who visits downtown or Michigan Ave or Grant Park at anytime on any day is out of their mind. The chances of being caught in a moment youthful exuberance is quite low and you will pay the price.

Mark Glennon on AM560’s Morning Answer: Chicago pension buyout plan mostly shifts debt rather than eliminating it, property tax surge doubles inflation over three decades

Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension.
