‘I knew what I was inheriting,’ says Mayor Johnson after another violent weekend in Chicago – WGNTV (Chicago)

‘I knew what I was inheriting,’ says Mayor Johnson after another violent weekend in ChicagoThe mayor explained, "I grew up in the 90s when 900 people were getting murdered a year. It was brutal and there were Black men and women who were getting tortured,” he said. “If anyone tells you they can single-handedly shift the political mindset that has led to the type of disinvestment that has led to the type of violence that we’re all experiencing, if any one person says they can do that, they’re not being honest.”

The word disinvestment is associated with having been brainwashed.

Brandon the disinvestment will continue. Businesses realize that your policies will make things worse not better. Unfortunately you can’t see through those rose colored CTU glasses to realize that you need private industry investment. Hiring more and more union hacks is not an investment that creates a return other than for those union hacks.

Even if BJ, et al, honestly believe that violent Black on Black crime has been caused by ‘disinvestment’ and ‘political mindset,’ they must be God’s own fools if they truly believe they’ve articulated a credible plan for getting anything fixed. ‘Disinvestment’ is fixed with money, and they haven’t got any. Their plans for getting more money all require additional taxes that they have no chance of collecting quickly, and little chance of getting many of them even approved at all. And even if they had the money – which they don’t-n-won’t – they certainly haven’t figured out how they’d actually… Read more »

BJ The Race Clown is using BIG DICK Larry Lightfoot’s pass-the-buck strategy to duck any accountability for out of control crime

The evidence is clear, from San Francisco to Chicago. Disinvestment follows as a consequence of crime and chaos. It’s happening in real time, in cities that have allowed criminals and junkies to control the streets.

As the word “Disinvestment” implies, there was once investment that has now been withdrawn. Brandon Johnson is right- a political mindset caused the problem. Just not in the way he is trying to sell.

“Disinvestment” is a word used by Johnson to blame White people for the violence in the colored communities. Just a sneaky way of pulling the race card and not admitting that the black community is the problem.

There is one community of color rising in influence rapidly – Hispanics. In fact they are surging in numbers because of Democrat policies. Johnson could well be the ‘end of the line’.

Chuy Garcia missed his opportunity to become Mayor, demographically-speaking. His campaign was lackluster, suspect he really didn’t want job.

Ald Ray Lopez not running in this past election was the bigger surprise.

Good grief, Chicago has elected an adolescent as mayor.

It may be true that 900 people were murdered in the 90’s but he failed to realize that from first responders to the ER crew they are now trained in battlefield conditions. They have saved countless lives today vs the 90’s in the way they treat the victims from when they first get to the scene. With well over 1,000 shot so far the death toll would be way higher were it not for their expertise. Also I don’t think the thugs had the fire power then as they do today.
P.S. Where are they getting all the ammo?

Fred, I once read that foreign military doctors came to Chicago hospital emergency rooms to get “realistic battlefield surgical training.”

Thousands of Illinois residents are making the decision every year to disinvest in Illinois. They don’t like the return they’re getting. Who can blame them.

I would like to hear about what Mayor Johnson is going to actually DO to cut down the violence, not how he is going to rationalize it by the “disinvestment” canard

Anyone could have just became mayor and said the same thing. Teens and adults should have their own brains and conscience, disinvestment of parental guidance and leadership as well

Mark Glennon on AM560’s Morning Answer: Chicago pension buyout plan mostly shifts debt rather than eliminating it, property tax surge doubles inflation over three decades

Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension.
