Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension. The state’s existing buyout program for its own pensions is the precedent for Chicago, which should be a warning: Look out for similar exaggerated claims and shoddy analysis.

I’ve seen the math and it would only take several hundred thousand Republican voters from downstate Illinois, upstate NY and inland CA to move to WI, NV, AZ, MI and GA to flip those states to forever red. Easier said that done of course but soon enough I’ll be one of them.

No. Dems have argued similar junk in federal court and won. DNC primaries are a farce. According to this appeals court, primary rigging is protected by the first amendment, and donating to the DNC does not give you standing or redress regarding who party leaders pick.
