IL rep: As if Bears ‘had a plan to rob the bank’ before considering Indiana – Center Square

“I think the Bears are bluffing. I think that this is once again a point of leverage for them, but I could see this ending pretty badly,” state Rep. Kam Buckner said.

You mean like Kam and his fellow kleptocrats did with their idiotic filling of the financial hole the Autopen created with Chicago transit by stealing tax dollars and toll money from people who will never set foot on a Chicago transit vehicle?

That is robbery defined.

The Bears are in a pickle. The site they drilled a few days ago (soil testing for construction) has a view of, and is within a mile of, the BP Whiting Refinery. This refinery has had decades of accidents. Bears fans will be able to wipe the ground with paper towels and use them for charcoal starters while tailgating. Most of the fan base is from the Northwest & North Suburbs, will they want to drive to Hammond? Can anyone imagine Taylor Swift or Beyonce, let alone The Final Four or Super Bowl going there? Arlington Heights will not be… Read more »

“… for Illinois Democrats that will shoulder the blame of losing a Founding Member of the NFL to a neighboring state.”
There Kam, fixed it for ya.

The park district of Chicago apparently still owes $500M on a $587M renovation project from 2003. The Bears are simply tenants in Soldiers Field and apparently do not owe anything. The loan was apparently built to make huge payments at the end…another shroud “kick the can down the road” decision by the City and state of Illinois. Excellent decision making. With the City of Chicago still owing $500M and broke, the next move is for the City to beg for the money from the State again, and for the State of Illinois to have a few dark back room-smoke-filled graft… Read more »

Isn’t Illinois Fun?

Bet the Skyway owners like the Indiana idea, eh, eh. Seems like Kevin Warren badly misjudged the politics of this issue and/or his own abilities to navigate. Still think Arlington Heights will be the choice, too much related potential development for the Bears there.

When the bears move on watch the finger pointing between Braindead and Putzger. This will be a sit back and watch moment

Just look at the Chiefs leaving KC Missouri for KC Kansas. Missouri voters would not approve tax to help renovate stadium. Kansas gave them everything, ticket, concession, parking revenue while just about paying to build the place. KC owners worth billions, yet paying little. You don’t think Indiana would love to stick it to IL? Indiana in much more affordable fiscal shape than IL. And even IL Democrats, especially downstaters, afraid to raise even more taxes just to help Bears. Arlington Heights eager to let rest of state pay to keep Bears there. No skin in the game for them.

The Democrats in Illinois didn’t care when large corporations left, so what’s the difference? I liked when Kam said the Bears are bluffing. It will be funny when they lay down their cards and it says “Bye bye Illinois”
