Illinois’ Bad Roads And Bridges Are Costing Drivers Hundreds – WROK (Rockford)

Nick VinZant, a senior analyst with the QuoteWizard, explained, "We looked at the number of non-acceptable roads, bridges that are in poor condition, time lost to commute, efficiency, all those kinds of things... Those factors cost Illinois drivers $586 a year. Add to that the U.S. average of $533 more as a result of vehicle damage from bad roads, and the grand total is $1,119."

Roads are falling apart

But Chicago is only concerned with pandering to pampered and privileged bikers, shaking down drivers

Believe it or not — Michigan doesn’t have a single toll road, wheel tax stickers and cheaper gas!

Illinois doing what it does best. Highest costs, lowest performance. Not only in roads, but in everything that the state does. The only people who get their money’s worth is the government lackies who do nothing and get huge pay and benefits and huge pensions. They all move out of state ASAP once the pension money is flowing. Punta Gorda, Fl. has more Chitty of Chicago cops than Chicago. If you think you are getting screwed, your right.

Illinois has among the highest gas taxes and fees in the nation. Greed-crazed Illinois government even linked gas taxes to inflation and taxes Illinoisans on the taxes they pay! It’s still not enough to satisfy the union’s immoral, insatiable greed. End the prevailing wage insanity now!

Double the gas taxes with never ending yearly increases to rebuild yet even tho hundreds of millions of dollars have been generated the roads are still in dire condition. Something doesnt add up unless you are a connected road contractor and get your pockets stuffed with the usual kickbacks.

Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension.
