Illinois caregivers could soon have specialized training for different cultures – Center Square

State Rep. Dagmara Avelar introduced Senate Bill 2427, which requires competency training on sensitivity relating to practices for providing affirming care to people in the person's preferred language, people with disabilities, and documented or undocumented immigrants. "It's not enough for Democrats to push a woke agenda in the public education system. They want it in health care too," state Rep. Adam Niemerg said.

If I’m in the ER or a doctor’s office, I’m looking for MEDICAL COMPETENCY – forget cultural sensitivity.

I want competent healthcare, not woke coddling.

Undocumented Immigrants in the hospital is the very definition of Public Charge. They should be deported to their country of origin for the cultural sensitivity care they require!

Years ago, I read an article about how medical caregivers had TOO much cultural competency, to the point that it was considered racist stereotypes. In the ER, there’s a medical condition that only Latin women get called the “Ay-ay-ays!; african-americans would just mubble and point to something; rich white women would get really crabby at staff and try to second guess the staff, etc. The medical profession was trying to standardize care and get rid of But now it seems like we’ve come full circle and it’s again OK to expect Latin women to exclaim Ay-ay-ayes! in exasperation, and so… Read more »
