Illinois communities clash over symbolic mascots amid new legislation – KSDK (St. Louis)

The bills would prohibit the use of Native American names, logos, and mascots and restrict educational institutions from adopting or continuing the use of discriminatory disability mascots. The bills are still working their way through the legislative process, but they could change the way area high schools look in the near future.

Of all the issues this screwed up state should address, this is what they choose. Nice priorities.

Couldnt agree more. The state finances are headed toward a crash and they do nothing…but spend more and tax us more. But this, the state flag and time change…those bubble up to the top of the priority list. Law makers appear to not care…at all.

Distractions from the real issues designed to make it look like an effective change is being made, folks. Re- name CTA lines instead of addressing why the system is losing billions. Change the flag instead of staunching the outward flow of residents. Squabble over mascots instead of questioning what Johnny cant read or add but knows all about systemic racism and transgenderism. Bread and circuses beyond the Roman’s wildest dreams.
