If cops lose qualified immunity, so should prosecutors, judges, politicians, or any public official.

The demand for police misconduct far exceeds the supply…

There are many laws already on the books, the main one being a federal one – 42 U.S. Code § 1983 – Civil action for deprivation of rights…

Pass that legislation and there will be no more police departments. Some may think that is a good idea, others not so much. What person would risk everything they own to get involved in law enforcement when they could be sued personally. The article says that cities, counties etc pay judgements and that is not totally correct. Compensatory damages most likely yes, punitive damages mostly not. Frivolous lawsuits against LEO’s are filed constantly and in any court hearing it’s a dice shoot about the outcome. The venue, the jury, the judge, are variants that cant be predicted. I believe they want to abolish all locally controlled LE & replace it with a federalized police force…

Yes, and if it’s not the goal, it certainly is the destination. And the federalized police won’t be interested in petty street crime…..they’ll be a political force instead…
