Illinois GOP Launching ‘Election Integrity’ Committee, but Claim it has Nothing to do with Trump Rhetoric – The Illinoize

“We are trying to enhance trust in elections so that everybody, not just the winners, believe that elections were fair and not rigged,”said Illinois GOP Chairman Don Tracy. “Voting by mail, with its separation in the chain of custody, poses unique challenges to election integrity.”

In 1986 and 1990 there was a Committee for Honest Elections chaired and staffed by both parties. Jim Thompson and Phil rock were chairs. It was a bipartisan effort to get rid of some of the worst election corruption in Cook County and East St. Louis, but also with oversight in Lake County and DuPage County. It did a great job in cleansing the voter registration rolls of tens of thousands of phony registrants, plus monitoring hundreds of polling places on election day with volunteer watchers and lawyers.
