Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension. Gov Pritzker lives in some alternate universe believing he has done a good job as governor. I to imagined myself as Roy Rogers when it occurred to me that I didn’t have a horse! I doubt JB could even manage the Park Hyatt. His family did not hire him nor should we nor should America.

The only reason he is the governor is becoming Cook County. Just like Durbin and Duckworth they carry about 10 of the state counties but the really stupid voters in Cook County always vote for the D no matter who the candidate is. Ed Burke, Mike Madigan could run for after being convicted of corruption and they would win handily. Until Cook /Chicago wake up, they’ve been in a coma for decades, nothing will change. I’d give it at least about a 2 out of 3 likelihood that Pritzker does not run for reelection as governor.
Really? Why wouldn’t he run for governor? What is the downside for Pritzker? My take is that he will run for governor since he is a shoo-in and has complete control of IL government and media (except for Wirepoints, CWB Chicago, Chicago Contrarian, IL Policy and a few others) and then starts running for President right after reelection. He continues to use his Governor’s platform and increasingly outlandish IL Progressive laws and policies to milk national media attention on the taxpayers dime to try and inflame his Shia Kapos Fangirl worship to a national level. If he doesn’t run for governor, he can save his campaign money for the 2028 presidential cycle and have plenty left over to boost his chosen successor as governor and whoever he backs to replace Durbin in the Senate.
