Illinois governor on Trump win: ‘You come for my people, you come through me’ – The Hill/MSN

“To anyone who intends to come take away the freedom and opportunity and dignity of Illinoisans: I would remind you that a happy warrior is still a warrior,” he continued. “You come for my people, you come through me.”

what the governor of course has ignored because of his and other “never trumper’s” blind hate is that the he has to go through Trump for funding

Here is an article about states with governors that allowed the influx of illegals en masse should be concerned with.

I say let all the Dem governors have their way. Let them strut like disco chickens and refuse to comply with federal rules. Just cut off the federal funding pipeline. You want to do things your way? Fine. But you’re on your own. Then, let CA, IL, NJ, et. al. spiral into oblivion.

Watching that bit was more humorous than watching SNL back in the day. What part of incompetence is a growing budget deficit that starts at $3.5BB?

JB, 4%… That’s the margin… Maybe you should look in your mirror and contemplate the realities you now face.

Good luck buddy, good luck.

I’m sending a congratulatory letter to PDJT. I am also asking that he direct a full inquiry and audit of the ‘Covid’ monies given to IL, and if improper spending is found to please claw those monies back to the Treasury.

JackBolly

The Tribune asked conservatives for some advice on the budget. Mine is simple : go back to Rauner’s budget and adjust for inflation. That’s it. I won’t even mention rolling back Pritzker’s tax and fee increases. If JB and the Leftist Democrats can’t do that Mr Tribune, well then, we always knew they were a sham.

The Rauner budget? Go without a budget for 736 days until the general assembly passed a budget overriding Rauner’s veto? Can you even call that Rauner’s budget. Sounds like you want the Madigan budget.

Doug Heffernan

Reply to  Mark Glennon

Probably the same reason Rauner vetoed the budget. Petty politics instead of acting like adults and actually solving the problem. Voters seem to enjoy when their side owns the opposition. In this case it worked for the Democrats as Rauner was voted out.

Madigan made it clear he wasn’t going to work with Rauner on *anything*. They worked together on nothing until near the end when Rauner just gave up. How do you get anything done when Madigan took that position?

Doug Heffernan

Politics is not for the weak. Rauner thought he could bully his way into getting what he wanted by refusing to agree to a budget unless he got union concessions. He didn’t propose spending cuts nor did he offer additional revenue. He simply held his breath like a toddler and had his ass handed to him. Madigan took him to school.

You remind me of all the liberals whining about McConnell not putting Garland through Senate confirmation hearings. Don’t get mad that the opposition is better than you just learn to improve your own game.

Your distorted memories of Rauner are as revisionist history as they get. I’m done wasting my time arguing with you, because to bystanders, we look like two morons arguing. Have a good weekend, I know I will, because Trump is going to be our next president, likely JD after that, and God willing, Baron after that.

I’m good with Trump and Vance. They play to win and have shown how it’s done. Rauner and the other useless Illinois Republicans are a waste. Don’t defend these losers.

well then we are on the same side, and we can have a difference of opinion over rauner. I’m not rauner fan but I try to look at things objectively through the lens of reality, and he had a rough term with democrat obstruction.

Isn’t Illinois Fun?

Said the guy taking away opportunity for Illinois residents by enabling rampant crime, high taxes, budget deficits and perpetuating the largest state debt per capita in the country. Said the property tax cheat who issued incessant COVID emergency orders and hard lock down restrictions well past the time data showed such measures were overkill, and sent his family to their FL estate where common sense had prevailed. Swell guy.

Do you not recall what he did to our state during the Covid19 lockdowns? Do you not remember his tyrant acts? Do you not know about what he intended to do to those of us who own manufacturing companies if we ran a production line that was not considered “essential”? Gangsters were kinder to the people of Illinois than this man has ever been.

Nobody needs to come for “your people.” All Trump needs to do is ignore Illinois like it doesn’t exist. And he will. Your idiotic democrat policies will do the rest. The death spiral Illinois is in will accelerate with Illinois’ own corruption and stupidity doing the rest. And when it’s all over, your masters, Toilets, Braindead, Grady and all the other sub-human scum known as democrats will retire to the republican state of Florida and leave you geniuses to swill in the cesspool they created with the help of your votes.

I would bet dollars to donuts that his “people” are, first and foremost, the illegal aliens to whom he’s determined to provide “sanctuary”. In second place would be abortion providers.

While corrupt as they come, Trump doesn’t need to screw the Chicagoland residents, the Democrats and those who control them have done a masterful job. The Chicagoland fiscal nightmare and crime problems get worse daily. Those in power don’t even discuss the unsustainable problem. At some point, there will be no revenue left for the basic services

Not a Senator's Son

There is no revenue now. Revenue is a lie. That word is a lie. That is money taken from the honest hard working person and the government calls it a revenue.

It looks like the GOP will retain control of the House. As they will have complete control of the Federal Government, they can pass a bill allowing for State and Municipal bankruptcy.

JB is losing it. He can’t believe his ridiculous anti-Trump rhetoric that he spewed all over Nevada, Arizona and Wisconsin didn’t create a blue wave in those states. Now he’s acting like a schoolyard tough guy, which has to be the first time he’s done that in his coddled silver spoon life. It’s fun to watch his silly, immature tough guy meltdown. What a poser.

People in illinois are realizing that this Lack Of Leadership (LOL) governor JB is a moron. The governor won the state election with about 10% of the counties. Half of those were by less then 5% of the vote. Is he a leader of the people? Now he is talking tough guy. Under his LOL, he lost 35000+ lives to COVID. He accused the people of middle/southern illinois as causing the problem. Look at the school system in illinois and what is the reading and math scores. Look at the state finances. Taxes will only get worse. No one will… Read more »

I guess this doesn’t apply to me because I am not one of “JB’s people.” but it does concern me that Illinois needs every penny of federal funding it can get and this certainly is not a way to garner any. One might opine however that JB knows that Trump will not be favorable to Illinois bailouts so why not throw a tantrum. None the less everyone knows that my feelings are JB is now sharpening up his campaign speeches and by trashing Trump he is talking to his national base ie trump haters. Let t he 2028 campaigns begin!

Wow. What a tough guy. I guess JB does not understand too much about the smack the federal government has over transportation, HUD, DHS, FAA, Army Corp., DOJ, etc., etc. And he didn’t learn much from the election results that his type of sappy, leftie, phony, and destructive progressive policies don’t smell too good any more. And by the way JB, did you notice that Trump got some pretty big numbers in Illinois– like maybe enough to send a message that Illinoisans are not too happy with the way their state is collapsing.

Mark Glennon on AM560’s Morning Answer: Chicago pension buyout plan mostly shifts debt rather than eliminating it, property tax surge doubles inflation over three decades

Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension.
