It’s rare to see city leaders in Chicago take an open, unabashed stance on the collapse of literacy. To complain is deemed as too political, too racist or too anti-public schools. That’s the ‘we must destroy the state to save it’ analogy. I don’t buy it. I believe in incremental change. It’s taken us 40 years to Dem rule to get to this point and its going to take a generation to bring us back if that’s even possible.
As someone no longer in Illinois, my goal is for Illinois to serve as a shining example of liberal/Dem policies. Hopefully, it will influence independent voters nationwide, especially when other blue states also approach collapse. Yes, it sucks for those still in Illinois, but the sooner the collapse comes the better for the nation.
