Nearly 9% of bridges in Illinois are structurally deficient, according to data from the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA). The FHWA’s National Bridge Inventory says structurally deficient means “one of the key elements (of the bridge) is in poor or worse condition.”
A largely unasked question is becoming glaring: Is Illinois doing all it should to use artificial intelligence to make government cost less and work better? So far, the evidence says no.
