Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension. Pandora’s box is open and nothing will ever close it again.
Chicago has strict gun laws … with no effect. Illinois and the Feds may pass more laws, but it won’t eliminate the deranged from carrying out their agenda.
Our country doesn’t have a gun problem, it has a mental health problem. Take away one type of weapon and they’ll find or devise another lethal way to satisfy their derangement.
So another waste of taxpayer money defending this unconstitutional virtue signaling crap to its ultimate defeat in the supreme court.
WASTE OF TIME. Another democrat attacking law abiding citizens who happen to own a certain type of firearm and have never committed or ever will commit a crime with that firearm. Meanwhile the Cook County states attorneys office releases dozens of violent criminals every week with no or low bail.
The compliance on this law will be next to zero and most of the state outside of Chicago will refuse to enforce the law having declared themselves gun sanctuary cities. And quite frankly, there’s nothing much the legislature can do about it except cause tensions with the rest of the state. The gun registry thing is a complete nonstarter. No one is going to comply.
