Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension. Would those who actually have a sincere interest on the process we need for voting to prevent fraud and abuse please outline it on this site?
Here’s an article on the voting system in Illinois.

We need a National Voter ID Card- photo and biometric. To be presented when voting.
No mail-in ballots as the fraud potential is huge. Illinois has a 40 day prior to election for absentee ballots- this is good. Those who are 100% home bound need a special provision.
All ballots counted at the same time- on election day and immediately thereafter if necessary.
Chances of this happening as to have honest elections are between slim and none as DEMS will block it.
I would request Wirepoints follow up the vote with how each of members voted. It would at least show the public which ones care about their taxpaying constituents and which ones don’t.
Will do, but I am pretty sure Dems won’t even let it get to a floor vote.
No way will Democrats allow this to happen.
But good for the GOP for proposing such legislation.
It has zero chance of passing in the most corrupt state in the US. The Dems run the show in IL and have for decades. They are the cause of moral and financial bankruptcy in Chicago and IL. Dems will never pass this.
This is not strictly true: for same-day registration, we need to see details of naturalization if the prospective voter states that they were not born in the United States. Not actually verified, of course, but the procedure is so clunky that–at the last election–one first-time voter gave up and left without voting because it was taking so long to enter all the required information in the “correct” order.
This bill is the most common-sense thing to come out of Springfield in years. With migrants now able to get a standardized drivers license, and the ability of Democratic-run driver license facilities to register a driver to vote, you can bet this election there will be non-citizens voting. And as an election judge I have no authority to challenge that. Once you’re signed up, Illinois considers you a legal voter, whether you are a citizen or not.
There’s a saying,”Not a snowballs chance in hell” and this proposal fits perfectly. The democrats who have total control will throw this idea directly into the dumpster as soon as it arrives. How dare anyone to actually attempt at hsve honest elections in Illinois
As the demographics of Chicago rapidly changes from black to hispanic, the harvesting of the ballots of illegal voters is quickly becoming the go to strategy for winning statewide elections. Hispanics historically have lower registration and lower turnout than blacks and whites. The ballots of illegal voters, who often have no idea they were even registered, is an easy ballot harvesting play for generations to come. Like Dan Webb, the US Attorney for Chicago in 1982 said, he “…estimated that at least 100,000 fraudulent votes (10 percent of all votes in the city) had been cast.” The nursing home and… Read more »
A bill requiring proof of citizenship to vote has been proposed, but many in power will oppose it to maintain their grip on control. If we don’t push back, we must accept the consequences: a government that prioritizes power over the well-being of its citizens.
Inaction will only accelerate the decline of our state. The future of Illinois rests in our hands—act now or prepare to live with the outcome.
