Illinois House Speaker Chris Welch expects Chicago to be on Trump’s ‘dart board’ – Chicago Sun-Times

“Thank God we live in Illinois because, we’re already Trump-proof,” Welch said. “There may my some things that we have to do as a state with state’s rights to continue to push back against his agenda. We have to be concerned that he’s going to do what he says he’s going to do—that he’s going to put the city of Chicago and other…urban areas in the middle of a dart board. We have to be vigilant of that and be ready to respond."

Chicago is not going to be on Trump’s dartboard, only crooked Democrats. The only question is how many Illinois Democrats will be charged with corruption during Trump’s term. The US Attorney Trump appoints is going to be a busy.person. Mr. Welch should be really really careful with what he says on his phone, in his office, in his car, and in his house, because what he thinks is “Trump proof” is most assuredly not. And those friendly Democrats he confides in may not be as friendly as he thinks they are. Can you imagine how paranoid the Illinois Dems are… Read more »

my thoughts are that Illinois is not on Trumps dart board and rather will be on Trumps ignore board meaning a lack of funding. Keep shooting off your mouth Welch because the more you do the more certain funds will be cut.

Totally agree, ignore all these big blue cities and states. Cut Federal funding and the good people of states like IL will continue to flee.

Elite Madiganistan political animal Chris Welch crows about Illinois being ‘Trump-proof’. Chrissy, Illinois teeters on financial chaos. Is that the proof? Chrissy, Illinois’ pension debt is soaring. Is that the proof? Chrissy, Illinois’ largest city is on the verge of insolvency. Is that the proof? Chrissy, Illinois can’t pay for its current level of school spending without borrowing. Is that the proof? Chrissy, Illinois is overwhelmed with illegal immigrants. Is that the proof? Chrissy, the Grifter Joe taxpayer-funded giveaways are going away. Is that the proof? Political animal Welch has welched on his duty to protect Illinois taxpayers, yes. Welch… Read more »

When small children don’t continue to get what they shouldn’t have had in the first place, they cry and throw tantrums. Since blue is the preferred color of Welch and his ilk, let them hold their breath until they are true IL Dem blue in the face.

Chris Welch is not very bright. Not sure he has processed that his state is a mess. Crime, taxes, debt levels, and public corruption all appear to be out of control. Because of these issues we rank at the very bottom for attracting businesses, outmigration and growing our private employment base. Heck, JB has to apparently bribe businesses with money we don’t have to come here. And Welch wants to focus on President Trump? Focus on fixing our house Chris.

Like I said before, Chris Welch is sitting at Madigan’s former desk and probably in his former desk chair; and the power has gone straight to his head. He thinks he is the face of the new #Resistance in Illinois because he’s blind to the existence of his sworn enemy, Republicans. You see, he completely ignores Republicans in Springfield because he has a super-majority. He has no Republicans in his office, he has no Republican friends, he has no Republican family members, he probably lives in a neighborhood that voted 95% Democrat. He’s totally clueless, drunk on his own Democrat… Read more »

The usual adolescent tantrums from Democrats helps to insure IL and Chicago are near the end of the spending trough, towards the back of the line, and in the cheap seats.

Mark Glennon on AM560’s Morning Answer: Chicago pension buyout plan mostly shifts debt rather than eliminating it, property tax surge doubles inflation over three decades

Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension.
