Illinois Just Rigged Its 2024 Election, and the ‘Democracy’ Defenders Are Nowhere to Be Found – Red State

"The same 'journalists' who obsess about 'democracy' have absolutely nothing to say when one of the nation's already most gerrymandered states rips the mask off and outright rigs its election."

“Illinois Just Rigged Its 2024 Election… ‘Democracy’”
Why conservative politicians aren’t out beating this drum every single day is beyond me. Missed opportunity.

There are multiple ways to look at this. Two immediately come to my mind though. One is that the journalists’ are afraid that, by raising objections, Pritzker’s promises of funding news outlets might be put in jeopardy and the other is that the journalists’ might just assume that Illinois is hopeless. Let us not forget the dismal voter turnouts in recent Illinois elections that indicate Illinoisans themselves either don’t care or instead feel the state is hopeless.

It’s a one-party state so there’s really no need to vote. That’s why people don’t show up to vote.

It’s also why Democrats lately have had low turnout. But low turnout is a double-edged sword, because low turnout usually means low Democrat voter turnout.

This sometimes favor Republicans. This new law is designed to reduce the opportunity for Republicans to capitalize on low voter turnout and maybe squeak out a win in a southern Illinois district, and maybe elsewhere too.

I thought there was a difference between “climate” issues and “environmental” issues. So clean water is now a climate issue”? I guess with these fools it is.

Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension.
