Illinois labor amendment on the ballot in November – Illinois Times

"The big, big issue is what it does for the public-sector unions; it basically enshrines all their powers into the constitution and it gives new rights that workers in no other state have," said Ted Dabrowski, president of Wirepoints.

I have almost no exposure to “the press”. No subscriptions to any papers, I don’t watch any TV. How is the average person going to learn what is going on?

If the voters are going to be lazy and ignorant then they will get the government they deserve. Our Republic is fragile and always has been. We have more information at our fingertips than ever before so there is no excuse. Lazy voters are the problem and deserve zero sympathy.

Totally agree. There is more information out there than ever before and more places to access that information.

It is still shocking how few Illinoisans know this is coming. There is almost no press coverage of it. Voters don’t have a clue that it will e on the ballot. No one is talking about it other than the IMA. The fact that it will pop up right in peoples’ faces on election day with almost no debate is testament to how well the Democrats and the unions can ambush voters.

That’s the voters problem if they don’t know it’s on the ballot. If they are too lazy to review what’s on the ballot before they enter the voting booth then they get what they deserve. Voters are not victims of their own lazy behavior.

Just came back from a funeral or rather it was a celebration of life at a local golf course outdoor facility. There was a 21 gun salute for his service in the military. Spoke to some people in casual conversation about Amendment 1. They knew nothing about it which is not hard to believe since there is very little press. They know about the governor race. Non stop ads from JB but very few from Bailey. Some ads for workers rights paid for by the public unions. https://www.cities929.com/2022/09/13/unions-support-amendment-1-with-new-ad-critics-warn-of-tax-increases/ Just like the shall not impair or diminish clause or adding 3%… Read more »

Freddy, that’s consistently what I hear, too — people never heard of it. Total failure by the press.

If voters never heard of it, that means those ads with the nurse and construction worker are falling on deaf ears. So there is some hope.

As I stated, if people are too lazy to learn what’s on the upcoming ballot and research those issues, then they deserve the government they get. If someone actually researched what was on the ballot and then went to a search engine and typed in Illinois Amendment 1, they will be bombarded with negative articles about the amendment. It’s better than any advertisement. All it requires is for voters to engage in a little bit of effort. I love the idea of the celebration of life at the local golf course. Maybe those people celebrating their friend’s life and his… Read more »

Adding 3% compunding to pensions was a terrible idea and a republican idea. Thank you Jim Thompson.

Yes sir. Along with the constitutional pension clause (sponsored by Republicans) that prohibits diminishing or impairing pensions as well as the Edgar pension ramp that has caused the state to go deeper in debt. All supported by Republicans.
