The upside down flag is not not done in disrespect it is a patriotic symbol of the distress this country and this state is in.
I wonder how Russians or Chinese would fly their respective flags to express their feelings of distress? Oh, that’s right, they don’t have the option to do so and express any feelings contrary to the wishes of the Central Committee.
I spent 20 years as an expat in Asia and 4 years living in China. I would not want their single party system but I will say, I never worried about getting robbed, carjacked or assaulted on public transportation.
The other added benefit so to speak, is you don’t have to sit through the shenanigans of ignorant bafoons posturing on a senate or house floor passing a bill.
Maybe every Illinois citizen should put out an upside down flag to let our legislature, governor and Judges know this state is in distress. Then vote them out of office and put in people that want to get this state back to one Lincoln would be proud of regardless of party. Public service should not be a license to steal from the people.
