The Joint Commission on Ethics and Lobbying Reform, established in November to study Illinois’ corruption issues, were hopeful ethics reform could be achieved before the General Assembly was scheduled to adjourn on May 31. Springfield had been rocked by multiple corruption scandals during the past year, including the departure and arrest of three lawmakers.
A largely unasked question is becoming glaring: Is Illinois doing all it should to use artificial intelligence to make government cost less and work better? So far, the evidence says no.
