Illinois Leaders Slam Texas Gov. Abbott For Invoking Chicago Crime After 19 Kids Slain In Grade School – Block Club Chicago

“Gov Abbott, instead of coming after my city, take a moment to think about how YOU can stop this carnage,” tweeted Mayor Lori Lightfoot, a Democrat. “I work day and night to stop the violence. I see the suffering. Open your eyes. Lives are being lost. Be a part of the solution or get the hell out of the way.”

Mayor Beetlejuice flaps her lips while also doing nothing to stop the carnage in the city that she supposedly runs. She is just too stupid to just keep her mouth shut.

The people in Texas elect legislators who prefer relatively lax gun laws. The people in Illinois elect legislators who prefer to pass strict gun laws but then elect prosecutors and judges who will nullify strict gun laws with lax or no enforcement of those laws in the name of social justice. In each case it’s the voting public who chooses. Federal gun laws are broken all the time with interstate trafficking among friends and relatives, and trans border trafficking from Mexico, but few such violations are ever prosecuted. Current CWB has a piece on a guy who carjacked a woman… Read more »

It’s BD Lori who should shut up and get out of the way. The forecast calls for some heat next week, and we all know what that brings. She has done nothing to solve the violence in Chicago. Get ready for another violent summer in Chiraq.

If Lightfoot “works day and night to stop the violence…” yet nothing changes, shouldn’t she try something else?
Further, what are top ten strategies she has worked hardest on to stop the violence, and what are the results for each strategy?

You’ll never know – the only think we’ll know is whether or not it worked. So far all her ‘..day and night..’ efforts don’t seem to be panning out.

JB and LL would have been better off saying nothing at all instead of ranting and raving like lunatics. They’re always playing defense and looking like bumbling buffoons for it too.

Exactly! Instead of focusing on the tragedy, they feel a need to vindicate their efforts and mouth off. Worse than children.

The situation in Chicago is indefensible. In Lightfoot’s world the best defense is an offense.

Gov. Abbot was illustrating the frustrating fact that stricter gun laws don’t deter violence and used Chicago and New York as examples of that fact.

Unfortunately her knee jerk reaction was predictable.

No compassion or understanding context from Ms. Lightfoot.

2021, 800 murders in Chicago with a population of 2.5 million. 30 million people in Texas, 2900 murders in 2021. Chicago murders would be about 28% of murders in Texas. Chicago accounts for almost 63% of murders in Illinois (1300). Lightfoot and Pritzger are both lying pigs.

Mark Glennon on AM560’s Morning Answer: Chicago pension buyout plan mostly shifts debt rather than eliminating it, property tax surge doubles inflation over three decades

Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension.
