Underwood was ‘elected’ in the sense that a she was given a very favorable D+10 district that is guaranteed to vote D+10 no matter the candidate. Republicans cannot win this seat, it is impossible, there just aren’t enough Republicans left in the district. The district is short 33,000 Republican voters even in the best of years, like 2024 was, with the state having an 8 point shift to the right.
