Illinois marks highest-ever hotel revenue in FY23, surpassing pre-pandemic records – WICS (Springfield)

FY19 held the previous record for hotel revenues with $296 billion. FY23 holds a new record of $308 billion in hotel revenue. Gov. JB Pritzker said Illinois welcomed 111 million visitors who spent $44 billion in 2022.

Hotel occupancy is still down — hotel revenue is only rising because hotels have spiked room rates and other pricing, in order to stave off bankruptcy and foreclosure
