Illinois may be up to bat next to build first Great Lakes wind farm after Cleveland drops project – Chicago Tribune/MSN

The Block Island Wind Farm in Rhode Island in June 2017. The proposed Icebreaker Wind project in Lake Erie off the shore of Ohio was expected to look similar to this offshore wind farm. The Illinois bill, the Rust Belt to Green Belt Act, passed in the House and is under consideration in the Senate. “Some people think this is (just) a cute little thing we’re doing for energy,” said state Rep. Marcus Evans who introduced the bill in the House. But he sees the quest for a Lake Michigan wind farm as part of a global clean energy transition. “We’re building the infrastructure to power the world."

Some one with a video camera ask this creature the meaning of the word “kilowatt” means. Then post his non reply as he flees the scene.

Yay! Moar Bird Scimitars! Disfunctional, cowardly, bloated, and useless govenment focuses on pie-in-the-sky nonsense like this while doing nothing about rising crime, rising taxes, insolvent pensions, useless skules, and taxpayer flight. “Green” junk is so much more fun, especially when you stink at doing the basics of governmental administration, law&order, and education.

Climate Change is da greenies new religion.

Build more nukes in Illinois and the lights will stay on during a cold winter morning when the wind is not blowing.

I’m sure Lake County liberals will just love the windmills to look at while at the beach, as much as they love providing sanctuary to all those illegals!

Drove by a large wind farm near Earlville, Illinois the other day. Overcast, misting and not much of a wind. The giant turbines were not spinning, the sun wasn’t shining so I thought where is the magic electricity coming from? Then, down the road a bit the giant cooling towers of the Byron nuclear plant appeared. Both towers billowing clouds of steam into the air, aha, that’s where!

Power that’s 1) unreliable, 2) expensive (even with govt subsidies we fund), 3) unsightly, and 4) destructive to birds. Clean natural gas or well-managed nuclear energy have many more advantages, but they are inconsistent with the media, political narrative.

If I’m wrong, then let’s start with Wilmette Beach.

I’m with ya on the nuclear. Up and down “green” California are portable floating nuclear power units called the Navy, and Californians are too ignorant to know it. It’s all political why we have windmills and don’t have nuclear; to societies detriment. Sad.

Geez. I wonder why this great project got dropped. Does anyone in Illinois read national, international or techie news stories? These projects don’t make money because from an economic standpoint they stink. They are getting canceled all over Europe and the East Coast. But I suppose our geniuses in Illinois government can figure out how to make them work when all the experts in the world can not. Watch out. My guess is the next step is to have our investment whiz State Treasurer put public funds into these sinkers. So Illinois taxpayers will will get hosed again.

I suggest that public employee pension funds be used to construct these projects.

Perfect! They should go all in on green investments.

If you believe in the climate farce then Nuclear Energy is the only solution. But of course no one supporting this kind of thing has even the vaguest understanding of basic physics. Wind farms and solar panels are simply virtue signalling at the taxpayer’s cost.

Mark Glennon on AM560’s Morning Answer: Chicago pension buyout plan mostly shifts debt rather than eliminating it, property tax surge doubles inflation over three decades

Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension.
