A new statewide fee on paint products adds a small charge to each container sold as part of a program lawmakers say will fund paint recycling. But Brian Costin, deputy state director at Americans for Prosperity Illinois, argues the new PaintCare fee, 45 cents to $1.95 per container, is simply another tax in a state residents already view as overburdened.
Another article says two thirds of Chicagoans don’t know about an elected school board. I’ll bet 99% won’t know about a paint tax. Or an increase in the streaming tax. Or the automatic yearly gas tax increase. Or increase in gambling taxes. The Democrats count on the voters’ ignorance and stupidity. As I’ve often said, death by a thousand cuts, (or taxes).

Paint Recycling Program, thats rich, classic and a hoax. How many paint recycling businesses are there now? A few maybe but I suspect that in a very short time a well connected relative, friend, donor to a heavy weight politician will start up a paint recycling biz with all the necessary requirements kinda like the cannabis stores who had all the requirements in place before the cannabis law was passed so they naturally got the first licenses issued or the video gaming places who again had everything ready to go with a head start on the lowly unconnected. This pretty much shows what many Illinoisans already know: there are a myriad of ways that the Illinois Corruption/Greed Machine can find new or increased taxes to pile on our already overburdened load.

Yup the politicians have found a new tax to oppose upon us while the proceeds will no doubt funnel down a dark hole to who knows where al la the lottery system proceeds. Things like this will continue on until the voters elect politicians that seek to end the endless spending by the Illinois government.
I often see people write on this site that Illinois can’t possibly raise taxes any higher. Yet, they keep raising taxes and implementing new taxes and the voters seem perfectly happy. Yet somehow people here think our political leaders aren’t following the will of the voters. lol
Latex paint, let can dry out, put in garbage. Oil based paints should be taken to a recycling center. Odds are 90% of paint sold is latex. Solution, if you can buy your paint in a border state do it.
A largely unasked question is becoming glaring: Is Illinois doing all it should to use artificial intelligence to make government cost less and work better? So far, the evidence says no.
