They can’t even process FOID cards in a timely manner how are they going to make sure that people are carrying insurance.

Southern states used to impose a poll tax to make it too expensive for poor blacks to vote. Now Illinois wants to make it too expensive to own a gun

I foresee some hefty campaign contributions from the insurance industry to various Illinois legislators in the near future.

This strikes me as unconstitutional. Requiring a FOID card with minimal cost ($25) is one thing (privacy intrusive (and also likely unconstitutional in my opinion) but adding a heavier financial burden of insurance is another. It’s sort of like a poll tax for voting.

It truly burdens the law abiding gun owners. Certainly the criminals don’t have a FOID or will bother with insurance.

This law isn’t intended to provide liability insurance for anyone. It’s intended to discourage gun ownership and to spite statewide Republicans. The Democrats in Springfield have a supermajority, and they’re gonna stick it to the minority party in the state, just because they can. it’s basically mob rule.

Right. Of course it’s about virtue signaling coupled with state revenue but ultimately will cost the taxpayers millions of $ in legal defense costs fighting the inevitable constitutionality lawsuit. But what am I saying? Of course the Democrats don’t give a fig about wasting the taxpayers money.

Hey springfield, how about passing a law that illegal gun owner and criminals are required to have $1,000,000 policies. Then try to enforce the law against the gang bangers in chicago committing ‘gun violence’.

Mark Glennon on AM560’s Morning Answer: Chicago pension buyout plan mostly shifts debt rather than eliminating it, property tax surge doubles inflation over three decades

Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension.
