Unfortunate situation in academia that exits far too often. I am pleased that student complained and took on this issue.

Twenty years ago my son took a statistics course at university. He struggled in the class. Why? The instructor spoke English with a very heavy accent, making it almost impossible to understand him.

Li Zhang apparently has a good command of written English. Can she effectively communicate verbally with her students, or do they struggle to understand what she says? Could that be the source of negative evaluations, and not imagined bigotry? Is it racist and sexist for students to expect professors to speak English intelligibly?

So.. does this “ professor “ actually teach anything or sit around wringing her hands about what students think of her? Psst..Li if you feel like people are taking about you, they probably are. Sleep tight.
