“The problem with this massive proliferation of local governments throughout the state is that it was very easy to create these once-upon- time,” said Austin Berg, of the Illinois Policy Institute. “I think what most people in Illinois agree on is that we pay really, really high property taxes – the first or second-highest in the nation depending on how you calculate it – but we’re not getting the first or second highest quality in government services.”
Well it’s too bad that these units of local government don’t rank first in efficiency or delivering value for taxes paid.

Our township road commissioner is pretty much the only line on my property tax bill that doesn’t make me feel like puking. Been at it a long time, does a good job, answers his phone, knows lots of people and how things work. To the article’s point – the three school districts, two libraries, airport authority, sanitary authority (we’re on septic & well) and township-this & county-that which all also tax our property as separate governmental units cost way too much, and do far too little good. You could fire every third IL government employee and see no reduction in the limited benefit provided by IL government – IL government only benefits criminals, illegals, crooked Democrats, union racketeers, professional race hustle clowns, BIG ABORTION, and lazy government ghost-payroll do-nothings

Well it’s too bad that these units of local government don’t rank first in efficiency or delivering value for taxes paid.
