Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension. What would generate even more money is eliminate the yellow light. Just red or green! Like the game we played as kids Green light Green light! RED light!! but now it’s played with vehicles. There was a report I believe in the Tribune a while back that the yellow was shortened by up to a few seconds. This is not only dangerous but generates more citations.
Downtown I don’t dare to turn right on red, let them honk
So, some Illinois drivers are so fearful of getting tickets that they won’t turn right on red. Wow. Add improper application of traffic laws to the long list of reasons not to live in IL
I don’t turn right on red either if there’s a red light camera. In fact I don’t patronize businesses in cities that have red light cameras.
I do honk at you. Know the rules of the road and don’t be inconsiderate of other drivers. Right turn on red is only prohibited if signage states so. Why so many people in Illinois don’t know that blows my mind.
well in a lot of places the signs get stolen and never replaced
Right on red has always been an “option”, the driver decides. If there is a camera, I’m staying put. I got a red light ticket for turning on red on Randolph, never again.
