Illinois Republican Party sues Gov. J.B. Pritzker over 10-person gathering limit – Chicago Tribune

Gov. J.B. Pritzker speaks with community members on June 4, 2020, during an event in the Austin neighborhood.

The state GOP, along with three local Republican groups, argues that Pritzker’s limit on in-person gatherings, which is part of his plan to slow the spread of the new coronavirus, unfairly curtails people’s First Amendment rights. Republicans are asking the court to exempt political parties from the cap on gatherings and seeking permission to hold in-person gatherings without size restrictions in the run-up to the November election.

Republicans criticized Pritzker last week for attending a march with hundreds of other people June 8 in south suburban Matteson amid the response to the death of George Floyd at the hands of a white Minneapolis police officer.

How about a class action lawsuit by all businesses that have stricter social distancing mandates than the Governor imposed on himself at the protest?

Yes. This should have happened in May. But I’ll take it better late than never. The way Pritzker/Madigan has been acting I’d assume that he will still be trying to enforce his Emergency Decree until at least the November election. And after the Democrats get slaughtered in the elections he will keep up his tyrannical decrees for many months after as punishment of the voters.

I will be shocked if this time next year Pritzker isn’t still claiming for himself ‘executive powers’ due to Covid19.

Any place JB goes by himself is considered more than 10 people.

“The governor’s office did not respond immediately Monday to a request for comment on the lawsuit.” – Because Pritzker needs to ask Mike Madigan what to say.

That actually is not a crowd of 30 people surrounding Governor JB Pritzker.

It’s (3) sets of 10 people.

Mark Glennon on AM560’s Morning Answer: Chicago pension buyout plan mostly shifts debt rather than eliminating it, property tax surge doubles inflation over three decades

Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension.
