Illinois Resolution Would Urge Feds to Allow Dan Ryan Expressway to Become Tollway – NBC5 (Chicago)

Instead of seeking funds for roadway improvements, the bill would implore federal lawmakers to create toll roads to help deter shootings on Chicago-area expressways.

The bill seems clearly systemically racist. Wouldn’t instead the equitable (reperations) bill be to make the tony stretch of Edens through fancy north shore a tollway to pay for highway shootings through black neighborhoods /Dan Ryan

Toll roads are private roads so you can deduct the federal gas tax you pay for miles covered, unless that’s changed. You should also get a 100% rebate on state gas tax since it’s purpose is for improvements to public roads.

Dan Ryan Expressway, to be converted to tollway in an effort to stem gun violence. And the soda pop tax will encourage healthy eating. Since when are these politicians ashamed of their blatant money grab, no need to make up a story just admit it.

Might as well make parking lots and alleys/side streets into tollways. Lots of shootings there. But there they get out of their cars and start shooting each other so what to do? Tax bullets more and make it a revenue stream. Our deficits could be paid for in a few weeks.

Like a drive by shooter is going to worry about a skipped toll while driving a stolen Kia and running from a shooting or chasing another vehicle while shooting or just not bothering to use their issued IPass (sarcasim) to use the Dan Ryan. I swear that some politicians are completely nuts in order to come up with some of the ideas they have.

Mark Glennon on AM560’s Morning Answer: Chicago pension buyout plan mostly shifts debt rather than eliminating it, property tax surge doubles inflation over three decades

Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension.
