Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension. The reason for so many school shootings are so many kids are on anti-psychotics and anti depressants like prozac or ritalin/ADHD meds/etc. Think of it. If a kid is prescribed any of these meds who in the school would know about it? The school nurse Maybe? Not the Super or principle or anyone else. Hipaa rules protect doctor/patient confidentiality. Unless a medicine would have to be administered on school grounds the school nurse would know but probably would be bound by law not to let administration know unless the parent gives permission in writing. Yes, study after study shows a correlation between SSRI (Anti-depressants) and violence in young people. For most people, anti-depressants work. But for a small subset of young men (and some women), SSRIs send them into crazy, violent territory.

Conclusions: The association between SSRIs and violent crime convictions and violent crime arrests varied by age group. The increased risk we found in young people needs validation in other studies.

CONCLUSIONS: The results add further evidence for caution in prescribing antidepressants among young persons. It also calls for a reanalysis of violence measures in the original trial data.
