Illinois schools may be forced to change mascots under proposed law – FOX32 (Chicago)

The proposal comes as Freeburg High School, located about 25 miles from St. Louis, faces renewed criticism over its mascot, the "Midgets." The activist group Mascots Matter filed a complaint in January with the U.S. Department of Education’s Office for Civil Rights.

Kids can’t read at grade level. Many high school “graduates” can’t read at all. But worry about mascots.

Would this mean that Springfield schools couldn’t use “Butterball,” in honor of Gov. Putzker?

Let’s cue the PETA advocates that will say we can’t use animal names either? Why do they think a school would select a mascot to represent them if they intend to make fun of it? They were instead celebrating a David and Goliath moment. This is reminiscent of Chief Illiniwek and that ceremonial dance that was the most awesome thing to witness until wokeness killed it. We need to get past this and celebrate the diversity we have in our country. Were any “ little people “ consulted as to how they felt, or is this another case like when a few radicals ( probably Elizabeth Warren types ) coerced the Washington Redskins into changing their name and now tribal elders are wanting them to change it back? Once again, the state takes it upon themselves to tell you what is good for you.
