Illinois set to roll out a new literacy plan aimed at changing how students are taught to read – Chalkbeat Chicago

Teacher is assisting one student.Under SB 2243, the state board must develop and adopt a comprehensive literacy plan by Jan. 31, 2024 and create a rubric by July 1, 2024. Local school districts could use the rubric to evaluate their reading lesson plans. In addition, the bill requires the state to develop training opportunities for educators by Jan. 1, 2025, and future elementary school teachers will also be tested on their knowledge of literacy on a content-area exam student teachers are required to take before they receive a license.

Any new state literacy plan must acknowledge all previous standards of measuring outcomes or competency are rooted in racist systemic eugenics, per CTU/Brandon……the people have spoken!!

with all the mandated SEL and revisionist history non-sense, the only letters IL school bother teaching to read are LGBTQIA and P (P is for pederast).

If the parents can read they should be directly involved. Turning the experience into a game works very well. Use flash cards with the animals name printed below rthe animal image. It also helps with the concept of phonics. Next we’ll work on cursive writing.

We are the experts, and have been devising and implementing curriculum for more than 50 years! And we’re going to teach these kids to read, as soon as we figure out the evidence-based way to do it!
