Illinois teachers can opt out of unions in August – Illinois Policy

Teachers spend hundreds – and some over a thousand – on union dues each year. But their unions don’t prioritize representing teachers.

The teachers union is part of the reason Johnny can’t read. Why care about a job when you have job security. Work for it

Teach who care about students and education should opt out. CTU is now a political machine, not a labor union.

Opting out of joining the teachers union was done in Wisconsin a few years back. Other public sector unions were affected as well and amazingly union support dropped by over 80%. Expensive dues, union only health insurance and a bunch of other union mandated ideas were done with. Local school districts could find health insurance on their own and ended up with coverage and rates better and cheaper than provided by Wisconsin Education Association and districts ended up saving lots and lots of money not being forced to use the insurance companies mandated by the union. Thumbs down from a union member that likes everything kept “ in house “ and behind a wall of ambiguity. The unions chiefly benefit the union management, then the teachers and, of course, lastly “the kids .” Abolish them and hit them with mismanagement of money, the RICO act and whatever else it takes to send them packing.
