Illinois to see two gas tax hikes in the new year – FOX32 (Chicago)

To save the most, you may want to head to Wisconsin where the combined state and average local retail tax rate is just 5.4 percent, compared to Illinois' 8.8 percent. And if you're willing to cross into neighboring states for gas, you may want to stay for your holiday shopping. Illinois has the eighth-highest sales tax in the nation, and ranks as the only Midwestern state in the top 10.

Buy your last tank of gas in Illinois and let it take to far, far away.

Blowing in the wind is a rumor for now is that Pritzker is talking about doubling the vehicle registration fee again to 302 per vehicle. Anyone hear anything.

Don’t know about doubling the fee, but I do know when I just paid our renewal that extra $1 just ticked me off. The 50% increase to $150 wasn’t enough … noooo… let’s make it 51%.

I’m hoping this will be our last IL vehicle renewal.

As often as possible we fill up in WI – usually $0.40 – $0.60/gal savings.

Tax, tax, tax is the solution for Illinois problems.
Let see how that ends up.
Just chased some more residents out of state for good and making a lot of others think about it.
More Taxes is not the solution, but controlling spending is, never going to happen as long as public unions lust for more, more and more.
It is now either work for the government or run for your economic life of your family.

Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension.
