Illinoisans can now change sex on birth certificate without medical record – WICS (Springfield)

The update to the state’s Vital Records Act that took effect on July 1 at the conclusion of Pride Month was enacted under HB0009, which allows people to change the gender on their birth certificate by signing a statement affirming their gender identity or intersex condition.

Hmm, congratulations to both of you. Boy or girl?

A boy, but we’ve transitioned him to a girl since we’ve already got 2 boys.

We didn’t want to take a chance another conception that doesn’t go our way…
