Illinoisans’ spiraling job losses, why parents need school choice and the dangers of Illinois’ proposed progressive teaching requirements. – Wirepoints on AM 560’s The Morning Answer

Ted Dabrowski was on AM 560’s The Morning Answer talking about how Illinois’ job losses compound on themselves, what the failure of the progressive tax amendment says about Illinois voters, why the fact that Illinois’ wealthiest school districts remain closed to in-class learning shows we need school choice, and the dangerous proposed education rules that require teachers to conform to a progressive litmus test to keep their job.

I struggle to explain to others that being an Illinois resident is basically being an accomplice to a crime. Most of it’s residents know it’s corrupt to it’s core, yet they stay, pay their taxes, and support it. They even turn over their children to this corrupt system for several hours each weekday. I’m sure many residents take exception to being called an accomplice to a crime simply by living in Illinois. They prefer to think of themselves as victims. You’re only a victim if you can’t free yourself and your family. Most can leave, yet choose not to, therefore… Read more »

No, we are the #resistance to the corrupt progressive authoritarians.

IL is in a slow decay, you stay here, make your money, and then leave for Florida or TN.

Illinois is in a slow decay instead of a fast decay because the majority are willing to stay and turn over their taxes to the system they despise. The true resistance are the ones that starve the progressive authoritarians of the money they need by leaving.

For many years I myself fed the corruption with my taxes. I always admired the people that left because they disapproved of the state and said “no more”. I eventually followed their example.

Illinois residents are the political prisoners of the Democrat party.
Kinda like the Commies.

The residents of Illinois voted for the Democratic Party. That hardly makes them prisoners. They are free to physically leave the state or choose to vote for different candidates. Consistently they have decided that their best interest is with Democrats in charge. They are not victims. They are getting exactly the leadership they desire.

“Consistently they have decided that their best interest is with Democrats in charge.” Kind of. Only 55% of the state consistently votes for the Democrat Party. And quite frankly, I am now suspicious of the legitimacy of those votes. In the recent past we’ve had multiple Republican senators (Fitzgerald and Kirk), a R Gov (Rauner), and other statewide office holders (Judy Barr Topinka, Rutherford, etc). Even crazy Joe Walsh had a house seat a decade ago until he lost it in redistricting in 2012. I’ve already established in previous comments here that Madigan’s epic gerrymandering transformed a bare majority into… Read more »

I agree – kinda sort of………….i vote republican every year and still choose to stay. I have 2 older kids and grandchildren here. Yes i plan on moving out of state in 5 years, but for now – I’m still working and need to see my children and grandchildren frequently. My situation is true for many. some of us are “stuck” here due to family roots. Not that easy to pickup and move out when family (and spouse’s family) lives here. When i retire, i plan on moving out, and will come back frequently (every couple months) to visit any… Read more »

A few years ago we looked at moving out of state, but ultimately decided to stay here near family. With the current political landscape in US, I think we made the right decision. Many “red state” tax havens are turning purple, and there is no guarantee that they will not go blue in the near future. Droves of people are leaving CA, NY and IL, but they seem to be taking their liberal politics with them. If the whole country is going crazy, and there seems to be no escaping it, I am glad that at least I am here… Read more »

If you do your research you will find some very red states.

I don’t understand the thought process of “it’s better to go down with the ship so long as my family is with me”. My thinking is, “I’ll lead by example and get off the sinking ship.”

My question is- can you really get off the sinking ship? Looks to me like the whole country is sinking. Given what the Dems have already shown in just a couple of weeks, do you think that they will just leave some states alone?

Heyjude, that is a great question. If the sane states were still smarter they would be erecting legal barriers to takeover by the nutjobs and advertising themselves as safe havens. Those might be constitutional changes or whatever to assure sensible budgeting, taxation, depoliticized schools, etc. Otherwise they will get overrun by radicals fleeing the states they destroyed, which is already happening to Texas.

I have been thinking it is a few of the sane people that are left that are moving to red states to escape the madness we call Illinois. Let the loonies have their bankrupt state. The new “progressive ideology” education bill in IL is the last straw. The teachers have had more than ample time to revamp math and reading curriculums, and this is what they come up with. Illinois has so many public students underperform when compared to other states. For the amount we pay in taxes, our education should be top 5. We are somewhere in the lower… Read more »

Unless you are actually in a prison you are free to live elsewhere more aligned with your values. Prisoners do not have choices. You do.

A statewide concern: Illinois’ population decline outpaces neighboring states – Wirepoints on ABC20 Champaign

“We are not in good shape” Wirepoints’ Ted Dabrowski told ABC 20 Champaign during a segment on Illinois’ latest population losses. Illinois was one of just three states to shrink in the 2010-2020 period and has lost another 300,000 people since then. Ted says things need to change. “It’s too expensive to live here, there aren’t enough good jobs and nobody trusts the government anymore. There’s just other places to go where you can be more satisfied.”
