Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension. Penske truck rentals need to come down soon. Just sayin.
Read an article that said all these new taxes are to be spent on illegals….. per JP. Isn’t that wonderful…….dems must need the votes
The beat goes on. Uncontrolled spending and taxpayer abuse continues, resulting in more outward migration. It seems debtsor is right in that these IL Dems don’t care about IL shrinking. Sad.
Ohio is run by Republicans and has roughly 800,000 fewer people than Illinois. Two years ago they passed a two-year budget for $86B, which is about $43B a year, which includes 24-25. Illinois just passed their 24-25 budget for over $10B more than Ohio, despite only having 800,000 more people.
My point is that even Ohio RINOs can pass a balanced and reasonable budget and exercise fiscal restraint. Illinois progressives can’t help themselves.
The people of Illinois want more spending than Ohio apparently. If they didn’t, they would vote for “Ohio RINO” type candidates. Instead they want tax and spend democrats and republicans.
I really don’t believe this is accurate. In my opinion, Illinois is lacking in moderate conservatives willing to run and a majority party that aggressively gerrymanders. Well, and Trump hasn’t helped in the suburbs… but moderate minds are changing.
Nothing, nothing good happens after midnight.
