“Number one, for the governor to say that he’s not going to give the schools a bail out is an unfortunate use of language, for sure. Number two, how is it that the kids in Chicago do not reap the benefit of the economy that their families helped to power that helps the entire region?” Stacy Davis Gates said.
Intact families with concerned parents do power the economy. What we see if we are looking at CPS are a majority of fatherless homes led by a welfare mother or grandmother dependent on the handout from Government or government funded social services. This situation is a drain on the overall economy. If you doubt this, check the commercial property vacancies from North Michigan Avenue to the far reaches of the 606 postal code.

Their families helped to power that helps the entire region. What? Really? Haha thats hilarious and so out of touch statement. Its more like they robbed their region blind, burned it down during blm riots and just destroyed it in general, especially voting in democrats. Reap what you sow morons, stop acting as such crybaby victims, people are fed up with your nonsense, you did it to yourselves, take accountability for your nonsense for once. Until then, no one will take you seriously.

A whole lot of schools districts, well ALL of them, only dream of 30K per student.

Some of the best paid teachers in big cities in the US, with some of the worst test scores in reading and math for students in the nation. It’s amazing what well educated students Catholic schools are turning out in Chicago at a fraction of the cost of that Chicago Public Schools spend.
Wouldn’t you suppose that the ethics and motivations of the private school’s set of parents are better on average than those of others? Then, they know that they still have the same real estate tax obligations as well as the costs of choosing essentially a tuition supported school. In short, such parents have “more skin in the game,” suggesting they are going to be more involved and more supportive of their school. Looking at that side of it there’s no real mystery why private schools sometimes, or often, have better results.

Tired of all this BS.
Let’s just give them everything they want so we can kick off the financial implosion.
The sooner we can get to that, the sooner we reach the end of this incessant whining.

“[H]ow is it that the kids in Chicago do not reap the benefit of the economy that their families helped to power that helps the entire region?” Whatever benefit there is has been taken by CTU and their allies. Wirepoints (among others) has documented the increasing costs and failing results of CPS.

Sorry Stacy, you Marxist clown, but you need to be disabused of the notion that CPS is underfunded. CPS spends over $30K per student…you are overfunded you racist, miserable excuse of a human being.
She’s not a Marxist. She’s an equity hustler con artist extraordinaire!!

She’s trying to take the heat off Brandon to provide more cash. CTU propped him into the mayor’s office with the idea he could give them everything they want. He’s finding the reality that the funds are not unlimited and can’t raise taxes enough to give CTU their demands. He’s going to be a one term mayor thanks to their demands. Simple rules of economics-can’t spend more than you earn-eventually comes into play.
“The Governor says the state is providing enough.” Apparently you’re not understanding things Stacy. The Governor has plenty to spend on Gotion and his woke policies, if he’s telling you no then he doesn’t see a benefit in spending money on CPS. Apparently he doesn’t need your votes. Pritzker and Martinez standing up to CTU, Let’s see how Brandon “over his skis” Johnson handles this.
Implied in Gates’ comments is a belief the City itself cannot pay for anywhere near the CTU’s demands. She is merely lobbying Springfield – someone else’s money is her solution. She is now left in the status of being a tin cup mendicant before the State. The problem she has is the perception that CPS schools (save for a handful of magnets she wants to eliminate) are expensive, poorly performing, with grossly underutilized facilities, and a mind blowing absentee rate. The rest of the State will only subsidize CPS so much. Besides, the list of suburban and downstate schools is… Read more »
Debtsor – I don’t foresee finding enough revenue to met anywhere near the union’s demands. The quickest source of revenue is to raise property taxes (residential because commercial rates are already sky high in a declining market). If Johnson does this out of necessity he will be a one term mayor (and he may be anyway). And it will accelerate exodus. Both Johnson and Gates have painted themselves in difficult corners. Progressive politics require money, and lots of it. Johnson didn’t get elected to run the Ciry efficiently but rather to protect the interests of favored cohorts. Only works if… Read more »
Equity means the equity in YOUR home. They’ll tax Chicagoans. And they’ll pay for it. Sure some will complain but there’s a lot of taxing room left on those sweet, sweet condos east of Western Avenue. The illegal immigrant issue is fixing itself. The caravans have mostly stopped and the illegal border crossings have slowed significantly just in time for election season. If Trump wins, he’ll try to deport them, and Johnson will try to be the hero shielding these same illegals from deportation. And he’ll be loved for it. Johnson can be mayor of Chicago for as long as… Read more »
I wonder if her abrasive personality is part of the strategy here. Politicians might give her more of our money in order not to have to deal with her, at least for a while.
“I don’t care who pay” pretty much says all you need to know about these things from the Teacher’s union. You are trying to reason with a group of “educators” who are themselves uneducated except in the art of claiming racism. They are negotiating with democrats who as a group generally wallow in their own stupidity controlled solely by the emotion, not reality, of racism. What could go wrong?
Don’t forget almost a Billion to Rivian which will cover their losses for around a month or not since apparently they can’t even keep them from starting on fire at the factory.
The Governor knows union votes have already been paid for. What are they going to do – vote Republican? Little danger of that. Sorry Stacy, your union has taught Democrats they no longer have to compete for your votes.

Old Joe is a product of Catholic education albeit in Detroit. The CPS-CTU symbiosis is far from God……
