Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension. JB’s father died when he was 7 of a heart attack at age 50. Ten years later, his alcoholic mother killed herself in San Fransicko in 1982 by jumping out of the cab of a tow truck as it was towing her disabled vehicle, and she was run over. This of course has been sanitized on dickipedia as “a car accident” but it was suicide.
