Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension. Audio here.
The people have nothing to say. Blm demanded the statues be removed and Lori, Sophia King and the Grant Park advisory council quickly gave into the domestic terrorist Marxist organization. These three gave into the mob after 49 cops were injured. Their collective loyalty is to blm and antifa and not the citizens. They want to destroy the American system. It’s obvious now that the looters, carjackers, predators are strongly in control of Chicago.
And it is not only Italian Americans who want the statue returned. It is anyone who wants to understand the history and culture of this country– the good and the bad. Leaving the statue hidden away only encourages spreading ignorance.
You’re missing the point. They want your history demonized, and ultimately, forgotten. The citizens of today’s Chicago don’t celebrate Columbus. The handful of Italians complaining about it have no clout in the city any more. Maybe they can convince Elmwood Park to put up a statute of Columbus instead, but even the demographics of that town are changing too.
