Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension. Audio here.
The big losers here are black kids being taught that they are permanent victims that need government cash to get by
I got tired of paying the high taxes in Taxistan and voted with my feet over 20 years ago.
Not going to pay anything for reparations either!!
Illinois was a slave state or was Illinois a state that sent troops to the civil war to fight slavery?
How about this. Every black person gets an income tax credit equal to his/her income tax for one year. They can even pick the year out of the next five years. This means they pay no income tax during the year of their choice as their reparations payment. After the five years are up all affirmative action laws are repealed.
Did the Irish ever pay reparations to the Italians for taking all the law enforcement positions?
Political promises are not made under oath and are about as reliable as statements from the petroleum, tobacco and electric vehicle lobbyists. Partial truth is the most you can get. Not everybody who threatens to beat my ass for comments on a web site follows through. We should and will treat the entreaties and threats from “community leaders” like Rev. Al the same way: bombast.
OK.. Lets draft an equitable agreement and end racism for good. We could really make a difference here! To me, this should be paid out as consideration to a settlement agreement. All matters of past racism and slavery should be dismissed with prejudice if reparations are paid out. This should effectively end DIE immediately since all parties will be on equal footing. Would further complaints of racism before the effective payout date be a violation of this agreement and subject plaintiffs to penalties / sanctions / punitive damages? Unfortunately, I don’t have the time right now to really give this… Read more »
The grift is your settlement is that it only applies to people alive today. A person born tomorrow has his own claim for past racism and slavery that wasn’t wiped out by the settlement the day before he was born. You need to think bigger, much bigger. That’s why the SF Board that proposed reparations suggested that reparations in the form of guaranteed annual incomes of at least $97,000 for 250 years be paid to black people, and that black people should have the right of first refusal to buy ANY home for sale in San Fransicko “with all financial… Read more »
The Rev Amos Brown of the California Reparations commission claims 5 million to be paid to each black resident, to be paid by billionaires. Take San Francisco. 50,000 blacks – under Brown’s plan, that’s a 250B obligation in a city with a 14B dollar budget. Of course, billionaires are billionaires because of their wealth – there are only 735 of them – and certainly not 250 of them in San Francisco- and their taxable income typically pales in comparison to their wealth. Bezos has a 1.6M salary. So even a 100 percent income tax in SF would not put a… Read more »
I had a comment that got lost in the spam filter. The reparations grift is generational because any settlement today must account for future blacks who didn’t get in on today’s settlement. The SF Rep Commission wanted to pay guaranteed reparations income for 250 years, and a free house paid for by SF. And these rights were inheritable by the reparations decedents, so that 300 years from now, anyone who shared 1/1024ths of your blood line would be entitled to guaranteed basic income in SF and a free house. The grift literally never ends.
The math is unworkable. The people involved in these things lack any credibility.
The Liberals disregard math entirely: they govern on feelings.
Native American Indians have a clear paper trail of treaty violations and contract breaches.
I don’t understand the legal basis for these claims. Secondary liability for extortion? Unfortunately, slavery was legal at the time and slave owners are no longer alive. I’m not trying to discount their position, but how does someone arrive at a solution that’s fair and equitable when there are no records and facts have been lost to time? Penalizing third parties that have noting to do with the original problem doesn’t make any sense.
There’s two ways to look at this. The first way involves some deep philosophical thinking. You must completely disregard your antiquated concept of justice. You believe in the idea of personal and individual responsibility. I know this is hard to think outside of the box, because this has been the basis for western civilization since the Bronze Age: the bible says that a son shall be not be judged by the sins of his father, but rather by his own deeds. Instead, you must instead adopt the new, progressively modern ethics of social justice, ‘the arc of justice’ they call… Read more »
“First we get the money” as reprehensible as it sounds to some it plays to Brandon’s base very well. These are people that have little understanding of what it takes to create wealth. They think it’s done to take advantage of minorities by people with white privilege. It’s going to be very hard to change that mindset as long as you have politicians like Brandon continuing with their hustle.
“Compounding interest on credit card debt”
Does this mean it works like the Edgar ramp? LOL how the public was duped by a very old con game named after that great Illinois Politician Jim Edgar who put the State in one heck of a mess financially to this day. The public never learns do they? (They defiantly don’t in Illinois)
Edgar said he hated Trump, voted for Biden if I remember. Who needs enemies when you have friends like this?
When will Dems start an organization which helps their base emigrate from the US since its such a nasty place?
They’ll take over where you used to live and then just complain about it.
So another words you all have been Duped.
