Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension. Audio here.
While women’s rights are important, not the most pressing problems right now. Illegal immigration, the economy, the growing federal and state deficits, crime, letting terrorists and climax’s in is more important right now. But Dems have failed on more important issues. Abortion is all they have. Wake up.
Has anyone ever heard from politicians about abstinence/virginity/using protection to avoid needing to get an abortion? Not one word that I am aware of. There has been a decades long campaign against smoking and commercials with people who have cancer/COPD/wheezing and body parts amputated due to smoking so why not the same for avoiding an abortion by controlling our impulses.
Also STD’s are running rampant but no mention. Simple Don’t smoke=lower chance of getting lung cancer. Avoid sex if possible=no pregnancy=no abortion. Not easy to do but education is necessary.
It’s impossible to preach abstinence or at least anti-promiscuity when the left’s philosophical worldview, and religion really, is centered around self-pleasure and hedonism. This of course conflicts with millennia of knowledge, and “the science” that promiscuity, LGBTQ+ lifestyles and non-monogamous same-sex relationship exponentially increases the risk for STD’s. To square this circle, and overcome the cognitive dissonance between the unhealthiness of promiscuity and/or LGBTQ+ lifestyle, they almost ignore and downplay the underlying health effects, and try to overcome the ‘stigma’ of catching an incurable, or at best, communicable, venereal disease. The community touts “better access to healthcare!” and “healthcare disparities”… Read more »
If he is concerned with women’s rights being stripped away, why does he support men masquerading as women competing against natural born females?
His family members are big financial supporters of child mutilation under the guise of “gender affirming care” as offered by Lurey’s Children’s Hospital.
And this hypocrite claims to champion for women’s rights? Unbelievable chutzpah!
While 14 states have abortion bans and several others limit abortion, how does IL and Pritzker’s wide open unlimited abortions position play in his Presidential bid? IL may like Pritzker for President but what about all these residents in states that aren’t all in on abortion? President Pritzker?
disgusting thought
Two misconceptions. Dobbs did NOT ban abortions. It let individual states legislate, via the voters, their own rules. Who is JB to tell residents of GA, TX, FL what their abortion policies should be? Second, residents in IL, while most support abortion, the vast majority do NOT support those very late term abortions that Pritzker is so gung-ho over and encourages abortion as a growth industry.
Speaking as a 100% lifelong committed pro-lifer, I have to say that while I understand the focus on abortion bans and at what point they should start (heartbeat, 6 weeks, 15 weeks, etc.), there is another issue involved that I think is even more urgent: the attempts by Democrats to stigmatize and even criminalize voluntary pro-life activity and conscientious objection to abortion. This should IMO be the #1 focus and priority for pro-lifers right now. For example, our own Governor and Attorney General tried to get crisis pregnancy centers branded as fraudulent and deceptive (until the courts slapped that down).… Read more »
That is the very thing causing the huge divisions in the country. The progressive left liberals think their thinking is infallible and everyone should think the way they do. Those that don’t go along with their agenda are harassed, vilified, cancelled and threatened legally. You don’t see those having different viewpoints, such as prolifers, using the same tactics as the governor and AG.
You are absolutely right about late term abortions, but the media never asks Pritzker what his position is, so as to avoid outing him as the sicko that he is. Does he believe in full term live birth abortions? C’mon Maryann Ahern, do your job and ask him!
Love to know that answer!!!
Illinois’ Trust Fund Baby-in-Chief once again gaslights as only he can. Massively.
Please do not use gaslight and Pritzker in the same sentence. If El Gordo breaks wind keep
All flames away, at least a 5 kiloton ignition.
BOOM!
Too late! We have a BLEVI!
JB bends the truth so often it’s hard to tell when, if ever, he’s being honest with us. I swear I thought I could hear the Battle Hymn of the Republic playing in the background whole reading his little story. Of course Newsweek gave him the opportunity to print his tale, and no doubt the MSNBC crew will read it verbatim while pausing to compose themselves as they weep throughout. Was he really too young to stay at home or did she bring him along so he couldn’t raid the fridge again? Whatevs, thanks for the cool story bro.
What’s JB whining about? He has transformed Illinois into a Progressive Utopia all for the national Pravda Medial accolades to support his Prtizker For President Campaign. If you want to strangle your baby with the umbilical cord at the moment of birth have at it. Other, meaner places may call this infanticide but golly not here in this Abortion nirvana of Illinois.
And what angers me to no extent is that Pritzker thinks his doing a great thing, he’s nothing short of a pervert.
The Democrat Party is filled with perverts. I’m not a religious guy but there’s a bible story of Lot providing shelter to two male angels in Sodom and the local male townsfolk showed up in the middle of the night demanding “bring them out unto us, that we may know them.” And let’s be honest, last weekend was the Chicago Pride parade, and this sort of behavior was a regular occurrence. This is the Democrat party, describe in a disturbing story passed down from the bronze age. Nothing changes, there is nothing new under the sun, the Democrat party attracts… Read more »
I agree with most of what you’ve said here. I’d much prefer it if both parties would “tone it down a bit” in their rhetoric and political actions. In the abstract I’m all for civil rights and showing total respect for my fellow man, but a political activist I am not! So, I’m in the middle-ground of politics where I’m drawn psychologically towards total acceptance of my fellow man but repelled when their more extreme beliefs are pridefully paraded in front of me as if that were normative behavior. Many years ago my wife and I made a down payment… Read more »
You’re a normal Democrat as have been every one of my Chicago born relatives before me. There aren’t many of you dinosaurs remaining.
Tis a disgusting thought……but then again so is pres. jp
There is nothing more humorous than an OP-ED by JB Pritzy about freedoms… This from the same guy advocating people shelter in place as he and his family hit Wisconsin and Florida. From the guy who kept extending his “emergency authority” as we dealt with a serious case of the flu… A guy who has failed to show an ounce of gratitude and humility for being born into wealth most cannot even comprehend. JB, you are a hypocrite of the highest order and deserve nothing but scorn. Sadly, the minute he offers his manna from heaven (the state and fed… Read more »
From the article:
Did JB’s mom have an actual job to be fired from? I thought she was working the socialite circuit.
Also, is this is how JB’s mother actually died?
https://www.upi.com/Archives/1982/05/07/A-woman-who-inexplicably-jumped-to-her-death-from/3440389592000/
JB’s father died at a young age on a ‘business’ trip while playing tennis in Hawaii. His mom remarried at some point and ditched the kids. JB being the youngest was shipped off to a boarding school on the East Coast when he was teenager. He spent teenage years on the east coast, likely being abused and bullied by WASPs richer than him. I researched this once before, and I believe, if I remember correctly, JB was in his junior or senior year at Milton Academy in MA when his mom died. The man was orphaned at 17. He had… Read more »
Woe to those who call evil good. Reproductive rights–euphemism for killing babies. In medical emergencies, there are exceptions–when the mother’s life is in danger, etc. But to terminate a pregnancy because it is inconvenient?? Ask an adopted person if he/she is glad to be alive and to be raised by parents who wanted a baby. What about women who have come forward to say that an abortion left them with lifetime regret and sorrow? I get that America is at the point of no return. In the not too distant future, I’ll probably be arrested and thrown in prison for… Read more »
Democrats are anti-human, they’ve always been back to the party’s founding when Thomas Jefferson owned slaves an impregnated one of them. Democrats have always been anti-human, and now as they fully embraced communism and the climate-cult hoax nonsense, they’re fully convinced that YOU are the carbon that needs to be reduced, and they want you removed from the face of the earth.
“MY BODY, MY CHOICE”
NO MASKING!
Election season – Leftist/ Marxist Democrats dust off and bring out the old dog whistles to excite their lunatic base. Next the AME Church will be doing the same. So predictable, so tiresome.
Pritzker is just trying to pivot the optics away from the problems with escalating crime in our cities, 25%+ inflation under he and Biden, our out-of-control border and Joe’s disastrous choice to encourage Ukraine to go to war with Russia. He knows the D’s are losing huge swaths of votes on all these issues. Illinois is one of the abortion capitols in the country, with no threat to that by the feds. Yet he says he is terrified? Of what – that citizens in other states having choices? What a tyrant / wannabe dictator!
According to Gallup, Joe Biden has an 82% approval rating among Democrats, and that’s up 7% from October 2023, when he dipped to a low of 75% approval among Democrats. Joe’s about a popular, give or take, as he’s always been in the Democrat party – dementia and all. JB isn’t pivoting to anything. He’s preaching to the choir to get them fired up to vote once, twice or even three times. Remember, even though the popular vote doesn’t count in the presidential election, Illinois IS part of the National Popular Vote Interstate Compact, which …awards member states’ presidential electors… Read more »
What you doing here is nothing more than projection, casting your own motives and resulting actions in a given circumstance as those of another person or group. Donald Trump does that frequently, he’s your hero here and you are following his playbook. What makes you at all qualified to be an authority to assume you know perfectly well their motivations and actions, let alone doing so in such great detail? Yet, many readers are here likely are gleefully in agreement, I’d bet. The MAGA crowd is a world of such deep thinkers, after all!
How many times have you and your pal accused anyone who speaks against teacher pensions of being motivated by jealousy? How many times have you told us that happiness consists of passively accepting our fate to pay teachers whatever they want forever? And now you have the audacity to accuse someone else of indulging in pseudo psychology? Look in your mirror James.
Changing the topic isn’t an answer, and the rest of it is irrelevant to my basic interests of the moment at least. Why are so many willing to accept debtor as the ultimate authority on almost literally every topic that arrises? He has self-confidence; I’ll give him that. But, common sense tells me he’s both smart and something of a blow-hard simply expressing his opinion and giving an aura of authority much like our favorite (or not so favorite) presidential candidate, Donald Trump? Why are all of this Wirepoints tribe drawn to such people? Keep in mind some of Trump’s… Read more »
So essentially, what strikes you as common sense that certainly most would agree on, boils down to Orange Man Bad.
He’s past orange man bad, he’s a man wearing the pink pu$$$y hat to bed
Yep, he’s the least qualified man in America as I see it. How anyone sees him acting intelligently and admirably as a world leader in that role totally escapes me. He’s going to be a bull in a china shop. It’s essentially like giving the car keys to a ten year old kid and asking him to drive you around New York City.
He has already proven he is very capable of running the country….. unlike OBIDEN!
The apparent opinions of your commenters seems decidedly otherwise so far.
“He’s morally unfit, he’s only interested in self-aggrandizement and any wheeling-and-dealing quick-buck scam opportunity to improve his stature as compared to that of all others he knows.” You are absolutely correct. He is every one of these things. Yet, he gets up there every day and fights the good fight for the rest of us. Everyone of my enemies hates him, just despises him, which makes him a hero in my eyes. he’s a system disrupter, he’s a bull in a china house making a mess of the leftist global hegemonic order, and I freaking love it, as do 75,000,000… Read more »
‘…. fights the good fight for the rest of us’. I don’t think Donald Trump is wired ever to think and act in that way. He’s only into the transactional benefits that can be made for himself. Selflessness never has been part of his mental programming. His father taught him that.
YOU ARE WACKY…….the country is burning under OBIDEN
“Tell me why you’d vote for such a person.”
Are you going to vote for Biden, then? It is to laugh!”
My anticipated vote for Biden is hardly an endorsement. It’s intended more as a single-vote canceler for another person’s Trump vote. I’m far more anti-Trump than pro-Biden. My younger years were spent in the area of IL where Republicans were seen as our faithful political champions. My parents and extended family generally were Republican. I’m not against the Republican party I knew and had faith in then. But, Trumpism has completely destroyed the gentler Republican ways of thinking and acting of decades past as I view it. Apparently most here find that laudable; I think it’s despicable. That’s not to… Read more »
Voting for Biden as a cancellation of a vote for Trump? In Illinois? That’s an irrational justification for voting for Biden-Harris.
This person is not rational!!
Well, surprise, surprise; there’s not much agreement from your commenters so far.
I’m doing only as much as the law allows a voter to do—use my vote to cancel the effects of another voter’s preference. If I could do more maybe I’d want to do so.
In all seriousness, Trumpism didn’t destroy “gentler Rebublican ways of thinking” Democrats destroyed Republicans in the past several decades by pushing the envelope further and further, and Republicans went along with it, until there was little discernible difference between a Mitt Romney and normal Democrat. Trump is simply a return back to where conservatives should be (and many like myself argue he doesn’t even go far enough). Again, like I said, Democrat’s primary complaints about Republicans is that Republicans are against their degeneracy and vice.
And OBIDEN hasn’t destroyed people and the country??
It seems you are the only one having that viewpoint so far. Something to ponder.
No….he is just one that has the guts to say what’s happening!!!
Obviously, he up-votes himself. Wire points has let him get away with it as long as I’ve been coming here. It makes me wonder too.
I guess your “he” is me. Just for clarification I have NEVER upvoted any posting I’ve made on Wirepoints. What’s the point of doing that? It seems an act of pitiable desperation for anyone to have such a bad self image that any such person would resort to doing that. I readily can agree that my comments here are seldom appreciated and often reviled, but so what? I don’t literally know any of you here, and I believe the reverse is true as well. So, under what reasonably believable circumstance should I feel so depressed by a bunch of strangers… Read more »
Oops, upon rereading your posting I now take it your “he” Is debtsor. My confusion likely happens because your posting appears so much later than his, I suppose. In any case, that term “he” sometimes is hard to pin down as I’ve already suggested.
lol I actually vote myself down. I’m the downvoter for all my own comments.
HISTORY PROVES DEBTSOR CORRECT.
Much of what he says is coming out everyday if you’re paying attention!
As debtsor has said a time or two even a stopped clock is right twice a day.
Your words are correct..I believe TRUMP is aware of this BS and will do what is needed to be done…….TRUMP is a smart man!
Your bar for what it takes to be smart is waaaaaaaaaay too low.
My body my choice eh JB? Funny how you took a 180 degree opposite opinion of this during your covid lockdowns while shipping your family out of state so they did not have to follow your edicts.
