Heyjackass.com has the percentages. In 2024, 97% of all shootings and murders involve blacks or hispanics. The remaining 3% involve ALL other races combined. Dig deeper and about 2% of that 3% were shot or killed by a member of the 97%. There is no race problem in Chicago, there are problem races.

I didn’t read the article. The Sun-Times and WBEZ are proven liars. Lie to me once, shame on you. Lie to me 587 times, shame on me!

Hmm.. it must also be racist to acknowledge that blacks kill other blacks more often than the police and non- blacks. Or that more whites are killed by blacks than vice versa. Or.. well you know the facts.

Even the per capita is suspect. I believe if they only counted Cook County-Chicago and not the MSA all the way out to Naperville-Joliet, the per capita would be more reflective of the warzone that is the City formerly known as Chicago.

Paywalled, but is the issue here total versus per capita? Per capita murders is a more meaningful stat, but totals lists yield meaningful info, too. Anyway, Chicago shouldn’t be proud there are 10 major U.S. cities with higher per capita murder rates (depending on which list you read), but it should be very embarrassed its rate is about 5X higher than that of NYC.

Thanks, Mark, but from what I understand, I wouldn’t enjoy reading the Sun-Times.

Even if I wanted to read their content (I don’t), I wouldn’t want the hassle of registering and giving them an email address.

So far 406 murdered and 2056 shot in Chicago. 6 killed and 27 wounded so far this weekend. How many more will there be due to extremely hot/humid conditions? There are more murders per capita in Caracas but how many people shot in Chicago are saved by first responders/ER’s considering that some of them are trained in battlefield techniques. In Caracas I’m sure they let more people die due to lack of training and skill and costs involved to keep them alive.

Just another example of how liberals live in a world of fantasy and make-believe, and have a conniption fit when their narrative is dispelled.

Doesn’t matter, Chicago’s a shithole and everybody knows it.

It is racism when the overwhelming majority of victims and perpetrators are black.

Mark Glennon on AM560’s Morning Answer: Chicago pension buyout plan mostly shifts debt rather than eliminating it, property tax surge doubles inflation over three decades

Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension.
